Amy Humphries
Occupational Therapist and Practice Owner
Hi, I’m Amy Humphries. I was born and raised in Pietermaritzburg and completed my Occupational Therapy degree at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Westville campus) in 2014, graduating cum laude. After community service, I returned home and have been practising in the area ever since, across a variety of settings.

I’m passionate about working with adults recovering from neurological and physical conditions, and I have a particular interest in driver assessments and rehabilitation.
Helping people rebuild confidence, independence, and the ability to get back behind the wheel is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

What I love most about OT is how creative and human it is. No two days or clients are ever the same. It’s a career that allows me to walk alongside people during some of their toughest seasons and help them rediscover what’s possible.

When I’m not at work, you’ll usually find me out for a run, pottering in the garden, or spending time with my husband, Warren, and our two daughters.
Jen Irons
Occupational Therapist and Practice Owner
Hi, I am Jen Irons, a farm girl from Dundee. My husband, Rowan and I have two children and live in Pietermaritzburg.
I obtained my BSc in Occupational Therapy from the University of Cape Town in 2006.
Since then, I’ve worked in various countries, contexts and in scopes of Occupational Therapy.

I am passionate about assisting people in need and meeting them where they are at. I enjoy being an Occupational Therapist because it’s a diverse profession which is focused on enhancing clients’ well-being. It requires constant problem-solving and out-of-the box thinking to meet the individual needs of the client.
I consider it a privilege to be able to journey alongside our clients and to have worked with both children and adults. I believe in advocating for the OT profession and have a heart for providing learning and growth opportunities for younger therapists. Outside of work, my focus is on my family, outdoor adventures and exploring new places.

Jess Heaver
Senior Occupational Therapist
Hi, I am Jessica Heaver. I grew up on a farm in the small community of Paddock, which is located on the lower South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal. I obtained my B. Occupational Therapy cum laude from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. I spent my community service year at Murchison District Hospital before joining the GH Therapy family and continuing my love for hospital-based intervention.
I am passionate and motivated about going the extra mile to ensure a positive difference in the lives of others. I value working alongside and supporting patients and their families during their therapy journey.

I strive to empower individuals and to assist them in regaining their independence and to facilitate their return to daily activities that bring meaning and purpose to their lives. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I love the outdoors and always seek out new adventures.
Kate Wade
Senior Occupational Therapist
Hi, I’m Kate! I graduated with a BSc in Occupational Therapy in 2020 and kicked off my career doing community service in rural Mpumalanga.
Since then, I’ve wandered my way through private rehab facilities, a community health clinic in Cape Town, and even helped run the OT department at a district hospital in Alice, Eastern Cape.
Now I’ve landed at GH Therapy, KZN—my fourth province—and I’m loving the journey. I’m especially passionate about neuro-based rehab, wheelchair and assistive device work, and making at least one person smile every day.
When I’m not in OT mode, you’ll probably find me hiking, camping, playing the fool with friends, reading, or dancing around to music (badly, but enthusiastically).
